Technical advancements in the medical field have opened the possibility for new treatment options, such as non-invasive radiosurgery. In the past, physicians usually chose surgery if there was only one tumor in an operable location. In the case of multiple metastases, or if the patient was not a suitable candidate for surgery based upon health or other concerns, radiation therapy was the preferred treatment. Today, other options are available.
